about

Mayahuel is based on time spent prior to the pandemic, immersed in the music, traditions, people and environment of the sacred place we know as Oaxaca. A lot of these songs are inclusive of collaborations with musicians we met along the way, incorporating pre-hispanic percussion elements and field recordings from the sounds of the streets, mountain tops, and flowing water that we encountered during our time there. These songs are a reflection on what we encountered, evolved and evolving as we explore the genre of Ancestral Club—music from our ancestors, made for the club.
